The Template is the next entity after the Layout in our templating-layer. It can be set uniquely for each page. A template defines the structure of the content inside the Layout. It provides the layout for a certain type of pages. E.g. there could be a template for pages with a single block of stacked content and a template for pages that also have a sidebar.

Each template needs a corresponding Backend Layout, which is automatically used to determine the right template for each page. In order for this to work, the following TypoScript needs to be set in the Template-Configuration (project_theme/Configuration/TypoScript/Templates):
