The Donaueinkaufszentrum is located in Regensburg north of the Danube in the Weichs district. It was built in 1967 by Johann Vielberth as the first fully air-conditioned, two-storey shopping centre in Europe and at its opening was the first large shopping centre in Bavaria; it has been expanded several times since then. With the Main-Taunus-Zentrum opened in 1964, it is regarded as the "pioneer" of shopping centres in Germany and is one of the largest German shopping centres.
In cooperation with JCMedia GmbH, we redesigned the project on the basis of TYPO3. Our part was the creation of the site plan in SVG and business search.
The Donaueinkaufszentrum accommodates more than 135 trade and service companies on a rental area of 82,000 m² (102,000 m² property area, 55,000 m² sales area) and employs approx. 1,800 people. It attracts around 30,000 visitors every day, for whom more than 3,000 free parking spaces are available, and is Regensburg's most important retail location alongside the Old Town. Seven large-format paintings by the artist Willi Ulfig are integrated into the functionality of the shopping centre.
