The content elements MegaMenu generate a menu of contained pages in the main navigation points. You can either select these yourself or use automatically generated lists that display subpages to a certain depth. A MegaMenu thus displays a menu of several page levels at the same time.

For example, if a website contains only main pages or pages on the first level in the page tree, there is no need to create a MegaMenu, as these are automatically displayed as main menu points in the frontend (if the pages are activated in the menus). As soon as subpages are created that are not displayed as teasers or something similar, a MegaMenu is useful.

If MegaMenus are activated in your TYPO3 system, you will find below the column for the footer the mega menu column, which is intended for these content elements.

However, the MegaMenu column does not need to be filled with the content elements of the MegaMenu group. For example, if you want to display sections of a page in the menu instead of subpages, or if you want to use images, simply combine MegaMenu elements with other content elements or use only other elements.

MegaMenu - List of Pages

With the MegaMenu for listing pages, you create navigation points for pages that you select individually. It doesn't matter on which level the pages are located, they are all displayed in the same way in the frontend - it is therefore not possible to see how deep a page is in the page tree.

Tab General

Header

The header you assign will appear in the frontend as a menu title. Unlike the navigation points, it is not automatically linked. If you want to link the heading, choose or enter a link in the field provided.

Selected Pages

Select as many pages as you want to display in the megamenu in the frontend.

To add pages simply click the Page button below the field or the folder icon to the right of the field. In the window that appears, click on a page in the page tree. The page is listed immediately in the selection. Repeat this procedure for each page in the menu. In the context window, too, you can open and close subpages by clicking on the arrow icons to the left of the page names.

The pages are output in the sequence in which they are arranged in the field in the frontend. They are also output as pages of the same level. To move pages up or down in the field, click on a page. This marks the page. Now use the arrows to the right of the field to move the page up or down until it is in the desired position. To remove a page again, mark it with a click. Delete the page from the selection by clicking on the recycler icon.

MegaMenu - Pages + 1, 2 or 3 Levels SubTree

The MegaMenu types, with different level depths, automatically generate a megamenu of the subpages of a selected page. The tool is best suited to display the subpages of the page on which the content element is created. Only the subpages of a selected page are displayed as a menu, never the selected page itself.

Selected Pages

Select the page(s) you want to appear as a megamenu. To add pages, simply click the Page button below the field or click the folder icon to the right of the field. In the window that appears, click on a page in the page tree. This page is then directly in the selection.

To remove a page from the list, mark it with a single click. Delete the page from the selection by clicking on the recycler icon.
